How did you come up with your Etsy name?

~~I came up with my Etsy name because it is also the name of my wedding photography business, www.capturedmomentsbyamyleigh.com. I enjoy capturing the moments of peoples’ special events and that is why I chose that name. On a side note, my two children’s names begin with C (Carter) and M (Makayla) so that makes it even closer to my heart.

Is your Etsy your full time job or do you have a “day job”? If so what is your “day job”?

~~Up until 2 months ago, I worked in an architectural and interior design firm and as my shop prospered, I was able to quit my day job, to focus my time and creativity on doing what I love.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

~~My inspiration comes from my customers. They have something in mind that is special to their event, and I enjoy bringing their ideas to fruition. I am also inspired by the beauty of nature and Amy Butler and Michael Miller fabrics ( Oh how I wish I could sew!!).

Do you do any sort of crafty stuff outside of what you sell on Etsy?

~~In my spare time (not that I have much) I enjoy scrapbooking and photography and some nights I can be found sculpting with playdough with my children who are 4 and 2.

Is your workspace messy or organized?

~~As I am now a stay at home mom, my office is kid friendly, with toys and crayons scattered about.

What’s been your biggest accomplishment so far?

~~In life in general, my biggest and best accomplishment is my 2 beautiful children. But with regard to the business, I have 3 milestones that I have celebrated so far. Being featured on the front page of Etsy, hitting 1000 sales and quitting my day job.

What’s your personal favorite out of all the items on your site?

~~If I really had to pick one special design at this moment, it would have to be the vintage fire fighter invitation that I recently created for a special customer because the creation and design was so much fun. Honestly, it would be impossible for me to pick just one, because everything I create feels like I’m sharing a little piece of my soul.

As promised I’m starting a new feature.

Once a week I hope to spotlight a different designer on Etsy.

This week is the talented Jeweler IndigoSilverStudio.

How did you come up with your Etsy name?

~~ I am a bit of a night person. My favorite nights are summer nights when the moon is out and you can see really well or the nights my husband and I get to lie in our hammock and stargaze. Everything looks like it is in shades of indigo under the moonlight.

Is your Etsy your full time job or do you have a “day job”?
~~ I have more than one Etsy shop, IndigoSilverStudio, whimcsupplies (jewelry supplies) and my new shop SeleneDea (homemade candles, natural and organic bath and beauty)

If so what is your “day job”?
~~I help with our family’s metal recycling business, and we live on a hobby farm.

Where do you get your inspiration from?
~~History, I like Renaissance/Medieval inspired pieces, and nature; I am a rock hound and like going out for walks with my dogs to find agate and fossils. I like my pieces to focus on showing off the stone. And I suppose you could say…everywhere. I think everything we see influences us as artists.

How do you go about designing a piece?
~~Sometimes I sketch it out first, but most times it just comes to life while I am making it. Sometimes I see a stone and I instantly know what I will make with it. Other times I have an idea and spend hours searching for the right stone. I love custom designs. I find they are so rewarding. Customers have an idea in mind and while working with them on making a piece, I find a new supplier, or a new way of doing something. It pushes me to do or make something I otherwise wouldn’t have. And when it is finished and it is just right, and it makes my customer’s day…those are the best moments.

Do you do any sort of crafty stuff outside of what you sell on Etsy?
~~I paint, murals and on canvas, and I like to knit and sew.

Is your workspace messy or organized?
~~Messy while I am in the middle of a project, I usually clean in-between to start the next piece with a clean space.

What’s been your biggest accomplishment so far?

~~Surviving teenagers…LOL! Seriously, I don’t really think I have one accomplishment that sticks out as my “Biggest”. All accomplishments are moments to savor, all failings’ moments to learn from.

What’s your personal favorite out of all the items on your site?
~~I don’t really have a favorite.

~~Not at the moment. I have been thinking about one, but been too busy to work on it.
